Treasure Sands - Treasure Cay Abacos
After hearing about this fabulous restaurant, I planned on surprising Heather with a date night out on her first evening upon arriving in the Bahamas. The ambiance of this pool lounge and resto is beautiful - sitting on the beach
When I walked to the bar in the afternoon to make a reservation, I was at first ignored by the bar tender who was in a deep conversation with a server. I had to go around to the bar and make direct eye contact and interrupt to get her attention.
I asked for a reservation for 730 and specifically requested an outside (edge) table

Arriving at 730 we were promptly seated but first we were walked through the servers' bussing area- behind the bar and then to an interior table.
Let me explain that all seating is outside but I requested a table on the perimeter to see the ocean.
There was an open table and the server explained that it was reserved. I replied the I have a reservation too. We were shortly seated at said table.
We ordered the garlic conch as an appetizer and it was very tasty.
When the appetizer was brought to our table our server asked if we had any bread which was obviously not on the table and she then brought some - fresh corn bread with soft butter.
We ordered the tomahawk steak to share. A 27oz steak attached to the full 18" shaved rib bone. The menu describes it for 2. It is accompanied by a vegetable dish and garlic mash. We asked to change creamed collards to the slaw instead. The server then came back and asked how we wanted the steak - medium.
The steak arrived as impressive looking as described with the correct sides. The slaw was tasty but over vinegary for my liking. The mash was warm - not hot, dry and not garlicy at all. The steak smelled wonderful and looked great but was under cooked - rare.
I asked the server for a fresh one as we had cut into it and she took ours back to the kitchen. The manager came over and apologized and explained that a fresh steak would be 35 min whereas cooking ours would be quicker and he would adjust the price.
The steak was returned cooked better with 2 fresh sides - mash and collards. I’m not a fan of collards thus the original request for an alternate. The collards were soggy and runny and not appetizing at all. Even not being a fan, these were less than what you get from a frozen package. Another 3" scoop of mashed potatoes - luke warm.
Desert was offered and the lava cake suggested. I am a lover of key lime pie and they had a ginger graham cracker crust. I ordered the KLP at $15. The serving was large about 1 1/2 a typical slice. My excitement was short lived. The pie was runny without much texture, only mildly tart and contained chunks of chewy zest.
The ginger graham crust had good ginger flavour but was very dense and chewy as well. Overall the pie was awful to the point I sent it back after only 3 shared forkfuls.
The manager was very accommodating with the steak and apologized on behalf of the the chef. He was a little more defensive with respect to the pie explaining that it was definitely a different flavor from Florida KLP but it wasn’t "awful". Maybe once he reads this more detailed explanation he will better understand the basis for my opinion.
The bill arrived without the promised reduction and when I sent it back with the server, the manager explained that it was technical error on his part but promptly corrected it and suggested I give them another try as he suggested my meal was an off day for them.
Overall the ambiance is wonderful, the manager tries hard and staff are not as skilled or trained as you would expect in a five star restaurant. Prices are on the high side for what you get (but Abaco is expensive to start with).
I give this spot a 3/5. I am sure they can and hope that they do better most of the time. It just wasn’t for me on this visit.
